Community Supporter: Morgan Myers

Community Supporter

We met with Morgan Myers, owner of Mike Alsop Chevrolet. In our conversation, she told us about the new dealership, her background and her plans within the community. Learn more about Morgan’s experience within the automotive industry by reading below.

About Alsop Chevrolet

The dealership sells new Chevrolet and Buick vehicles, as well as pre-owned all makes and models. We have a full service department including a parts department.

When it comes to Alsop Automotive Group, we’re a people-first organization. Our goal is always to promote from within, and our culture and values are what drive our bottom line. An essential piece to our success is focusing on the people within the communities we do business in because they truly matter to us. We want to bring incredible customer service to people by getting to know them.

As a company, we immerse ourselves in the community and become a part of it. In the past, we’ve sponsored local baseball and softball teams. We’ve gotten involved with the younger generation by creating internships for them to come to the shop and work for school credit. We continue to invest like this because we know there is top talent in our local communities. The Kentland branch of Alsop Automotive Group is very blessed to have its previous owners Lynn and Tom continue on staff with us. Their commitment to the community is fantastic.

In 2018, my father, Mike Alsop, purchased his first dealership, in Attica, Indiana. A year later, he opened the Rockville dealership. These both have service departments and parts departments as well. This year, he purchased a pre-owned store in Lafayette, Indiana, that has a state-of-the-art service department. And now we have a store in Kentland!

A Passion for the Automotive Industry

I’ve always had a passion for the car industry. I attributes this to my dad, who grew up around them. We spent a lot of time at the racetrack when I was growing up. I even wanted to be a drag racer. Several years later, my dad did end up purchasing an automotive store. I got on board to assist with social media.

My role consists of overseeing and supporting our team in whichever way I’m able. Todd Archer handles the day-to-day operations, while I focus on accounting and breaking down financial statements. My passion is to deepen my roots in the community here. It’s something I strive to do every single day.

My Experiences with Kentland

I have a great history with Kentland. Many of my friends from college lived here, including a sorority sister. In fact, my brother-in-law grew up in Kentland, and his mom and dad still live here! Since starting to spend time around the dealership in March of this last year, it’s been really neat to be able to meet the customers as they come in. I love getting to learn more about who they are, what they do, and how I can help them with their automotive needs.

It’s amazing to see all of the changes that have happened in the downtown courthouse square. Between the murals, community involvement, and new businesses, something phenomenal is happening here. I think that the town has done a wonderful job telling its story of Boldly Moving Forward, and I couldn’t be more excited to do business here.

Investing in Kentland

I want to continue to support locally-owned businesses and get involved here. I want to participate in community activities and create excitement that makes people want to be a part of the great things happening here. In terms of our dealership, we want to serve the people of Kentland. It’s my hope that with us here, people can continue to stay local for services like getting their oil changed or fixing any issues that pop up along the way.
