Kentland Community Supporter: Damon Ward
Kentland Community Supporter
Meet Kentland Community Supporter, Damon Ward. Damon grew up in Brooke, Indiana, had an extensive career in the military, and currently owns an excavation business.
Family & Marriage
I was born in Rensselaer and grew up in Brook, Indiana, which is the next town over. I attended South Newton and I have one older sister. I’m married to Casey Ward. She and I went to school together and she was one of my really good friends while growing up. She went off to college and I joined the Marine Corp and somehow we ended up in a relationship. It was almost out of the blue. And when it came to our relationship, I was always the one who was a little wilder. I was on motorcycles, and she was always the one looking out for me, making sure I had food and didn’t do anything too crazy.
My Business & Investing in the Community
I served in the Marines for 12 years. I was in the infantry and deployed five times. When I got out of the military, I started my excavation business. I work on water lines, sewer lines, and utilities. Basically, anything with dirt.
I look at my work here in Kentland and am glad to invest in my community. I’ve seen the world and have been stationed in places like California and North Carolina, and at the end of it all, there’s nothing quite like Kentland. It’s safe and close to all of the big things in Chicago and Indianapolis. It’s a friendly and approachable place. If you broke down on the side of the road, it wouldn’t be long before someone you know stops and asks how they can help.
The Spirit of Kentland
That’s the spirit of Kentland. People connected to the town search for ways to get involved, be upstanding citizens, and enjoy the community. It’s great to see community pride and strong family values. When I’m not busy or working, I love spending my time here in Kentland with my family. We do bike rides to the parks, walk through town, or even take the golf cart out for a spin.
