Business Highlight: State Street Title
Business Highlight
We sat down with Lana Wynn, owner of the State Street Title. She discussed the start of her business in Kentland, the roles and responsibilities, and being a part of Kentland’s community. Read more below to learn about Lana and State Street Title.
I was born and raised in Newton County, living in Morocco. I graduated from North Newton High School and began my journey with State Street Title. We opened our first office in 2016 in Morocco and have since expanded to Demotte, Lowell, and now Kentland this past October. A local business in Kentland that we work closely with had urged us to look into Kentland as an option, and we felt that it was time to provide our services in this area.
At State Street Title, we provide many services. We assist with real estate transactions and perform closings. We work closely with realtors and lenders, primarily local. Additionally, we facilitate the transaction data between lenders and realtors, making sure the title is clear before any transfers.
Day-to-day responsibilities usually consist of order opening and data entry, followed by processing. This is similar to communications between our staff and the lenders or realtors. We connect with various departments in the courthouse to make sure the documents that we are receiving are clear.
We currently have four members on our staff at State Street Title. Various roles we have include order opening, processing, search and exam, closing, post-closing, and policy issuing.
One thing I have learned is that working amongst other local businesses can be hard. We don’t want to take away from other businesses or be in competition with them– we want to add to them. I like to consider it as a team effort with everybody working together to make everything flow properly.
