Rooted in Newton County
My entire life has been rooted in Newton County. I graduated from North Newton High School in 1989. Over 29 years ago, I started working for the county, starting my career as a Sheriff’s Correction Officer. Currently, I am a special deputy responsible for courthouse security. I have two wonderful kids, David and Abigail, who are currently high school seniors.
Investing in the Community
I’m deeply engaged with my local community, contributing in various ways. I offer CPR training to local companies, businesses, organizations, and individuals eager to learn. During the winter months, I embrace the role of “Rent-A-Santa.” I really love getting into the festive spirit and bringing joy to the community. In the past, I volunteered my time to support youth sports programs when my children were involved. Additionally, for the past decade, I’ve been a part of the “Santa Chefs” team, delivering turkey meals to individuals on Christmas Day.
Additionally, I give time to two different community boards. I serve as President of the Jefferson Township Advisory Board. I’m a part of the Kentland Park Board as well, helping out the community with events. One of my favorite events we planned was a Halloween Festival that we put on years ago.
Kentland’s Legacy
This community is like one big family, bringing people together. It’s a great place to raise a family and be treated like family. One of my favorite spots is The Good Table. I also enjoy spending my time at Cast Park, whether that’s walking the trails or around the pond. Another activity I love is playing pickleball on the new courts. Overall, Kentland is a great community to be involved in.
