Kentland Community Supporter: Rebecca Harrington

I’m originally from Morocco, Indiana, and graduated from North Newton High School in 2005. I attended Lafayette Beauty Academy until 2007, and I also received my accounting degree from Western Governors University. I opened Hair Haven by Becca in Morocco in 2012 and moved the business to Kentland in 2014.

A typical day for me starts at 10AM and ends around 7PM. I do hair appointments, schedule clients, do bookwork, and make sure that my team has everything that they need. It’s a very fast-paced environment, which I enjoy. We have hair stylists, tanners, an esthetician, and a part time massage service as well. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when we’re all working together simultaneously.

One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned from owning a business is how to manage my time and my team. I want to make sure that our clients are booked appropriately for what they want, and managing my team and our time is a big part of that success. There are many obstacles that come with becoming an entrepreneur, but if you work hard and persevere, you can overcome anything.

Kentland is an awesome little town. I love how it’s expanding with new businesses and always encouraging people to move here. My salon is located next to JP Style Co. and Market No. 48, which I love to support, along with Cottage on Main down the street. The Old Colonial is a great spot to eat, and I always shop at Murphy’s for my groceries. I meet a lot of visitors and new residents in the community, and they always say how pretty the town is and how welcoming all the people are. I want Kentland to be known as a great place to call home, and I think the town is doing an awesome job in achieving that.
